A Two Part Webinar: The DO's and DON'Ts of Parenting Your Anxious Child
In this two part webinar, Lynn Lyons teaches the concrete approach that she uses with families in her private practice. Anxiety often runs in families, so parents need support and direction to break the patterns that feed worry, avoidance, and accommodation. Anxiety is loud and messy, but it's not complicated once parents understand HOW it works and what to do (and NOT do) when it shows up. This webinar is geared toward parents/caregivers of younger children (approx age 4-12.) Another webinar in May will focus on helping with anxious tweens/teens.
All registrants will receive recordings of both sessions to view until May 1, 2025. (Recordings will be uploaded to your attendee dashboard immediately after the live event.)
You'll learn:
• The big traps that parents and children get stuck in...it's easy to "do the disorder"
• How to change your family's "big picture" relationship to worry (rather than getting stuck in the details of it)
• How to model new patterns and break free from the worry culture
• Why a lot of therapy doesn't really offer what you need to help your child
• How to work with schools to create clinically sound plans
• How to prevent anxiety and depression from taking hold in your family
After our first two hour session, I'll give you assignments to work on, concrete changes to make! In our second meeting, I'll answer questions and help you solidify your approach. Knowing WHAT to do and HOW to respond is the key to interrupting anxiety's patterns.
